FLORIDA SUPERVISORS ACADEMY
June 28 - July 3, 2009: Holiday Inn Select - UCF Hotel, Orlando
The 32nd annual session of the Florida Supervisors
Academy (FSA) will be held at the Holiday Inn Select - UCF Hotel, in Orlando. This
location offers many
advantages and gives attendees the convenience of sleeping in a hotel room (single occupancy), and attending classes in the same facility. This change in venue abolishes the need for dorm rooms and daily strolls across the University of Central Florida campus on rainy afternoons. You will definitely enjoy the experience
and be glad you attended this academy.
The Florida Supervisors Academy is
intended to provide front-line supervisors
with an opportunity to increase their
supervisory skills and to make them
more effective leaders and better managers.
The Academy is designed to improve
and to develop management skills including
leadership principles, employee motivation, and employee relations
management.
The program is a one year course with a minimum of 34
classroom hours. The curriculum, instructional methods, and text
material is reviewed each year to be sure that each topic is current
and pertinent. The week at the Florida Supervisors Academy begins
on Sunday afternoon with registration, where students will
receive their notebook, namebadge, and check into the hotel.
The first official function after registration is orientation, followed
by the opening banquet. This gives the students a brief overview
of what to expect in the coming week, and it allows them to get to
know one another better.
Classes begin bright and
early at 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning
and cover a wide range of topics pertinent
and relevant to the challenges faced
by supervisors of any experience level.
Students are separated into "Case Study" teams and asked
to present a typical supervisory "challenge" they might
face back at the bank. After reviewing thier chosen situation, each
team acts out the solution in a short skit, using created scripts, and whatever props
they can think of, and find. After it's all said and done, a winning
case study team emerges from the rest of the pack, to receive their
prize. In 2008, "The Best Bank Two" team made the winning presentation and are pictured below

without the dedicated industry professionals that make up our
