The FBA is one of the oldest trade associations in Florida. Since the beginning, the FBA has served as the voice of Florida’s banking industry and it has grown to be one of the most powerful state banking associations in the country, advocating on behalf of members in Tallahassee, Washington D.C. and in state, regional and national media outlets.
A lot can change in more than 130 years, but some things stay the same. The Florida Bankers Association has been with member banks through the highest of economic highs and the lowest of economic lows and its mission has remained constant.
When the FBA was founded by a handful of bankers — led by the its first president, J.M. Schumaker from Jacksonville — it was clear that the voice of many is louder than the voice of one. The banks and the individuals that make up today’s FBA have learned from the past and are committed to making the future brighter for those who will carry the torch for the industry and the association in the years to come.
