Following the devastation of Hurricane Ian, which made landfall on the southwest coast of Florida as a powerful Category 4 storm, Florida banks of all sizes have stepped up to meet the needs of impacted communities and FEMA-declared disaster areas by making financial donations, extending account assistance and supporting employees and residents. Thus far, based on most current information, Florida's banking industry has generously donated more than $4.0 million in the first 24 hours in direct assistance to the Florida Disaster Fund, the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, and other organizations that are working to meet needs in the impacted areas. The Florida Bankers Association (FBA) donated $25,000 to the Florida Disaster Relief Fund.
